Sci-Fi Channel on cable TV begins transmitting.

Anderson Hayes Cooper, son of socialite and fashion doyenne Gloria Vanderbilt, is shown here, in his first modeling assignment as a "mascot" for the station, a scenario long played down by the Cooper himself.

Ripe for treatment.

The Vault|1986
Backstreet Exhibition

Mickey introduced me to Marvin in late 1984. It took about 18 months to convince Marvin I meant nothing untoward. The old Home Depot had orange concrete parking pillars, and a great white concrete brick wall. And I always knew where the sun would be at a particular time.

Years later, these five prints (20" x 30", archival, vintage) were stolen from my car overnight in a tony Hartford neighborhood. They never resurfaced.

Save Your Life!
Shop + Shop Alike
OfficeMaxx v Staples v Office Depot

From $159 – $299, this Sunday morning on the internet.

A deal would have been $99, shipped overnight free-of-charge.

Eitherway, the wrapping is sweet: save your life. As the seals, which require breaking.

There's two kinds of people folks.

All hard drives will come to a crashing halt when you are least expecting it, when you can least afford it (professionally or financially), and will SUCK valuable time from your day(s) trying to reconstitute files, if not entire accounts.

Hot would have had this delivered, three days overnight (order Sunday, receive Thurs early am), free of shipping charge, no tax, and $99 solid.

Still this is close.

About this blog.

Not that it's getting old, or other bloggers say the time of the blog is over, but I'm just wondering if it's time to morph into something else. It makes me laugh when I think about a million little pieces and the jewish apple.

I have books. Lots of them. Diaries. Journals.

And even they scratch the surface. But barely.

Not the original sleeve.

Wonder what Obama thinks?

I Believe in Father Christmas|ELP

I Believe In Father Christmas

They said there'll be snow at Christmas,
They said there'll be peace on earth,
But instead it just kept on raining,
A veil of tears for the Virgin birth.

I remember one Christmas morning,
The Winter's light and a distant choir,
And the peal of a bell and that Christmas tree smell,
And eyes full of tinsel and fire.

They sold me a dream of Christmas,
They sold me a silent night,
They told me a fairy story,
'Til I believed in the Israelite.

And I believed in Father Christmas,
And I looked to the sky with excited eyes,
Then I woke with a yawn in the first light of dawn,
And I saw him and through his disguise.

I wish you a hopeful Christmas,
I wish you a brave New Year,
All anguish, pain and sadness,
Leave your heart and let your road be clear.

They said there'd be snow at Christmas,
They said there'd be peace on earth,
Hallelujah! Noel!, be it Heaven or Hell,
The Christmas we get, we deserve.

Afghanistan & Iraq|Confirmed Deaths

God help those five families.

I have heard, first-hand, what it's like to see the Chaplin and military getting out of their official cars, wearing their official uniforms for an official situation such as these, some 4,216 times over.

When what's-his-name threw both his shoes at Bush, I wondered what 4,216 pairs of boots would look like.

Sometimes I really believe that the truly lucky are already dead.

3 weeks later.

Dear Governator:

I don't know what you draw for a salary (and perks), but it would be wonderful to see you either forego a salary altogether, or take the token $1 per year salary, that which makes a statement.

I should think you have more than enough money put away form your days as the Terminator et al.

And just because, I thought I'd show this:

This Day in History|1946
Patti Smith

Without Robert Mapplethorpe, Patti Smith wouldn't be the the muse that she was to the most important photographer of the 1970s and 1980s.

And, more than likely, without Patti Smith, Robert Mapplethorpe's career would have gone in an entirely different direction.

Still, one cannot underestimate the power of Patti's rendition of EASTER and her signature, BECAUSE THE NIGHT.

T-500 days and counting

There's a reason why I'm keeping tabs on how many days to go until I turn 50.

When you have goals you want to make sure you accomplish,
you need to keep your eyes on the clock.

And today marks 500 days remaining until I turn 50.

Stoopit Phags!

Really.

Choose your battles.

So Obama has Ric(k) Warren delivering the Inaugural Prayer.

What if he lifts the "don't ask, don't tell" policy?

Either way, don't ask Anderson.

He's asking, ain't telling.

Transparency, indeed!
